     Since the beginning of time colors have been seen to be powerful symbols and to have power and powerful meanings and uses. People from around the world look to colors for many different things. Whether is is simple because they like or are drawn to a certain color or they study and practice color therapy. 

     What in your everyday life do you find to be true with the psychology of color? How might it affect you and your choices? What you wear... How you decorate your home... What color of car you choose? If you pay attention, you may find that certain colors make you feel certain ways. Maybe the following apply to you. Or maybe you can use these to learn more about yourself. 

     Rainbows, Chakras, and Auras are composed of the 7 visible colors of the spectrum. Below you will find a quick reference chart of the basic and most well known colors. The first 7 are the main colors. The rest are a few combination colors. More detailed and broader colors and color combinations will follow.

  Following is a more in depth description of the colors, some of the stones for those colors, as well as variations of those colors.


Jagged Deep Red Heart The color red is one of the most vibrant colors on the spectrum. It also has the longest wavelength in the visible color spectrum. It is associated with fire, burning, heat, and warmth. It is very connected to life and that which sustains life. It is associated with living at it's fullest. Passion if you will. It is seen as exciting and sexy. It can express an outgoing vibration of aggressiveness, and this is not a bad thing. It helps you to go for what you want. It is also associated with vitality and excitement.
Red physically is attached to the root chakra. This would be the adrenal glands, kidneys, spinal column, back, hips, legs and feet. Use red to assist your immune system or fertility as examples. Wear red when you have a job that must get done, when you need a lot of energy, when you need or want to feel confident and in control, and when you want to feel sexy and desirable.

Stimulated Orange Brain Nerves On the spiritual level, orange relates to self-respect and confidence. It is related to stimulation. It is energizing and warming. Meditate with orange to increase harmony, warmth, and sensuality. Shades of Orange relate to the Sacral chakra. The sacral chakra is situated in the lower abdomen. Orange is good for the pulse rate and the gall bladder. It relieves bladder and kidney problems, food allergies and eating disorders.

Bright Yellow Gold Droplets 350Yellow is a very bright, joyful color. It symbolizes optimism and hope. Yellow is a symbol of courage and personal power. It is the building block of personal development and power.  Yellow is the color of the 3rd Chakra; the solar plexus. This is located in the upper part of your belly, where your diaphragm rests. Wearing this color can assist with physical problems of the stomach, digestive organs, healthy eating habits, middle back, pancreas, liver, physical strength and muscles.
You would burn a yellow candle for enlightening, abundance, clarity, and warmth. Use yellow to boost courage and confidence.

Green leaf with water dropletsGreen is the abundant color of nature and the environment. It carries the symbolism of health, youth, fertility, good luck, and money.  Green is also used to stimulate healing resulting in greater self-love. Green is the color of the 4th Chakra - the heart; located in the center of the chest.It affects the heart, lung, and thymus glands. It strengthens the heart and respiratory system.
You would use green to work with matters of prosperity and good fortune. .

Blue and Black Graffiti 350Blue is the cool color of water. It symbolizes peace, truth, communication, and tranquility.  Blue is soothing. It represents trust and harmony. It holds the energy and meaning of calm. Blue is associated with the 5th Chakra - the throat. It affects the mouth, throat, thyroid, and parathyroid glands. Physical uses of blue include relieving headaches, migraines, earaches, and sore throats.
You would use blue in meditation to improve communication. This in turn can help in matters of career opportunities, business,

Blue and Black Graffiti 350Indigo is the spiritual color of the inner mind, the intuition, and the cosmic consciousness. It in the color of the 6th Chakra - the third eye Chakra. It is a mix of blue and violet and is the color of knowledge, dignity, intuition, and psychic powers. It is physically associated with the pituitary gland, pineal gland, skull, brain, and nervous system. It can be used to help with migraines, nightmares, and issues with the eyes and vision. It effects coordination, balance, mental clarity, clairvoyance, intuition and wisdom.
You would use indigo in meditation to improve quality and clarity of thought and to increase intuition.

Violet Burst 350Violet represents awareness of being and the universe. It reaches out to the spirit and enhances connection to the spirit. It is a shade of purple and is connected to the 7th Chakra - the crown chakra- as well.  It spiritually effects out spirit and life force energy the way purple does. It is physically associated with the pineal gland, top of the spinal cord and the brain stem. It is helpful in treating mental disorders as well as learning about yourself and connecting to spirit.
You would use violet in meditation to open a connection to the spirit.

Purple Crystal BallShades of purple are associated with the crown chakra. The crown chakra is the energy center at the top of the head. Purple is said to increase intuition, calm psychological disorders and balance physical and spiritual energies. Purple has been called the color of wisdom. It is a the perfect balance between red and blue.
Purple is also known to be a royal color. This is partially due to it having been the most expensive of dyes to get historically.

Pink SubstancePink is known universally as the color of love. It is also the color of love in the metaphysical realm. It is the emotional love of self and of others. It effects friendship, affections, harmony and inner peace. It is a balance of fire and air.
Wear pink colors and pink stones when you are around people you care about and those that care about you. It can help to smooth over problems and to enhance or create relationships and friendships. It is in general calming, relaxing, approachable. Because it also helps with love of self, it can raise your self esteem and confidence.

Gold Metal LeavesGold is traditionally known as the color of wealth, success, and status. It is associated with prosperity and luxury and the psychology of gold implies affluence and extravagance. Gold is linked to a masculine energy and of the power is the sun. It is optimistic and positive.
Gold is a color that is generous and giving, compassionate and loving. Linked to higher ideals, wisdom, understanding and enlightenment. Use the color gold as a candle, stone, or metal to meditate and with intention of achieving this enlightenment.

Silver Nails and Silver RingsSilver is another color that is traditionally known to represent wealth. It is a color known in many coins. It is a feminine energy color associated with the moon.It is connected with intuition and imagination. 
Silver is a very versatile color and used in many different ways. It is a balance between black and white. It is a color of reflection and protection sending outside negativity back to where the energy began. It restores equilibrium and stability to power and energy.

Use white for the mind, body, and spirit to promote cleansing, purity, protection, encouragement. Use it carefully though as it can cause feelings of isolation and emptiness for some people.

Lady with brown hatBrown is the color of the Earth. It is very comforting, nurturing, fertile, and stable. Shades of brown tend to make people comfortable and thinking of relaxing at home.  It represents planting new seeds and a connection to Mother Earth. 
Use brown to feel cozy, safe, and warm. Use it in meditation or rituals to ground yourself. You can also work in your garden if you are able and choose to do so. Earth, is a natural healer and brings inner peace and relieves depression. Because brown can be a combination of several colors (black, yellow, orange, red, gray, green, blue, pink, and purple), each color that the brown you are using will also add variations to it's meaning.

EclipseGray is another variation on the link to the feminine, The Goddess, the Moon, the tide, ebb, and flow. It is a variation on silver, white, and black. As such, it would be used in the same fashion as silver. It is a color of infinite possibility. Again, anything falling between black and white. 
Use gray in meditation and ritual work to see  and make use of the options in your life. Worn, gray is seen as good taste, a touch of formality, dignity, and self respect.

Black with CandleBlack is the combination of all the colors together. A symbol of the unknown. It is the most formal color and is seen to show elegance, power, sexuality, allure, and mystery. It implies self-control and discipline, independence, and strong will.  
Use black in meditation and rituals for protection and as a barrier to keep out unwanted things. It can provide comfort with this protection. For some people though, too much black can cause depression and mood swings. I personally find it to be my favored and most comfortable color.
